Welcome to the Danish Society for Matrix Biology!

The Danish Society for Matrix Biology (DSMB) is a network for advancing the science of connective tissue, extracellular matrix biology and related subjects. The DSMB arranges seminars, lectures, discussion groups, conferences, symposia, and related networking events for scientists in the field. The DSMB is affiliated with the umbrella society for Danish life science societies, the Danish Biochemical Society.

At our AGM in October 2023, members of the DSMB unanimously voted to join the Danish Biochemical Society (Dansk Biokemisk Forening). The Danish Biochemical Society is an umbrella society for Danish life science societies. Read more and join us!

    2026 DSMB Annual Meeting

    August 17th, 2026

Mærsk Tower Level 15 (room 7.15.92)

    Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen

We invite all our members and other interested parties to join us for the DSMB Annual Meeting on Monday 17 August at the Mærsk Tower, University of Copenhagen. The meeting will feature a full day of exciting matrix biology talks, keynote lectures, and networking opportunities across the field of extracellular matrix research.

This year’s keynote speaker is Professor Dieter Reinhardt (McGill University, Canada), who will present his talk: “Extracellular Matrix Dynamics Across Tissues: Insights from Adipose Tissue and Bone”. He is an internationally recognized leader in extracellular matrix biology, with major contributions to elastic fiber assembly and disease mechanisms such as Marfan syndrome.

We are also delighted to welcome Professor Janine Erler (Biotech Research & Innovation Centre, University of Copenhagen) and Dr Timothy Mead (Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, USA) as invited speakers.

In addition, two outstanding early-career postdoctoral researchers shortlisted for the DSMB Dick Heinegård nomination at MBE will present their work: Dr. Jasmeet Kaur Virdi (Lund University, Sweden) and Dr. Sara M. Jørgensen (Rigshospitalet, University of Copenhagen).

As always, the programme will include selected oral presentations chosen from submitted abstracts, alongside poster presentations. Prizes will be awarded for outstanding contributions from young investigators (oral and poster).

The DSMB Annual Meeting is free for DSMB members. Membership (June 2026–May 2027) is 300 DKK.

Abstract submission opens alongside registration and is eligible for selection as oral or poster presentation.

    Abstract deadline: 6 July
    Registration deadline: 7 August
